PVDA FOR INTERNATIONALS

Amsterdam boasts 177 nationalities within its municipal confines. This shows the openness and international attraction of a seaside city that harbors superb museums, Golden Age canals which are now part of the Unesco World Heritage, and a history of promoting civil liberties.

But above all, Amsterdam offers an experience. Throughout the ages, Amsterdam has welcomed the persecuted, the displaced, those who’ve gone against the grain and their kindred spirits. When you visit Amsterdam, know that the likes of the Jewish philosopher Baruch Spinoza, the renowned painter Rembrandt, Abel Tasman (indeed, the discoverer of Tasmania) and Vincent van Gogh walked the streets before you.

Such history bestows its custodians with obligations and high expectations. People from across the globe hop in and out, whilst many decide to stay in this beautiful city to live and prosper, like they always have, and, hopefully, always will. It is the duty of the City Council to ensure that Amsterdam remains open, free and welcoming.

The socialdemocratic party of Amsterdam, the PvdA with 15 of the 45 seats in the City Council, welcomes you to the city and would very much like to hear from you. We need your eyes, ears and opinions to improve the city’s services.

We cannot do this without you.

So follow us on Twitter, email me your thoughts and ideas, and be sure to sign up for the newsletter (found above right on this page – ‘Doe mee’) to keep up on events organized for you, and all Amsterdammers. For an overview of Events, look here.

Sincerely,
